Training Times and Location
The Valkyries training sessions take place every tuesday and thursday from 6.30 – 8.00 p.m.
Thursdays we train in a women only group, tuesday we work together with the men and youth from Rugby Club Linz.
Generally we train from february until june and from august until november. Unless in the case of severely adverse weather conditions training is always on. Please reach out to us before coming to your first training session to clarify.
Our training location and home ground is at ASKÖ Bewegungscenter, Hölderlinstraße 26, 4040 Linz
Changing rooms and shower facilities are available.
You have never touched a rugby ball ever before?
It’s been a long time since your last Training session or Game with one?
No worries! It’s gonna be fun anyway!
As a newbie you will need:
- sturdy outdoor sports clothes – practise will be held outdoors unless in the event of severe weather conditions!
- running shoes (if you happen to have any, football shoes / studded boots would be awesome, but they are not mandatory)
- water bottle
Later on we will ask you to get yourself:
- mouthguard
- football or rugby boots, whichever you prefer
If you need to we can help you with suggestions on where to get everything you need.
Buddies for Life
Unfortunately we cannot offer separate beginner training sessions. It is a top priority of ours to make newbies feel safe and confident, so we ask you to be open and honest with us.
We will give you a short general intro and you will be introduced to one of our more senior players who will be your buddy for the first sessions. They can answer any questions or give you more information. Don’t be shy to reach out to them!

Also, you should know that rugby is a game with a whole bunch of rules (or “laws of the game!), but don’t worry – for the start you just need to know the basics, which are:
- if you have the ball, run forwards.
- If you do not have the ball, go for the one who has it.
Everything else will follow after some more sessions.
Also, no matter how long you will play for: You will have enlightening moments even after years of training and playing. So don’t ever be afraid to ask questions during our sessions! Either a coach or teammember will be happy to answer or show you what you want to know in detail.
